FLORIDA’S OLDEST NUDIST RESORT OPENS “SOUTH GROVE VILLAGE”
Public Event Showcases Lake Como Redevelopment: New Mobile Home and RV Park
LUTZ, FLA. – Lake Como Family Nudist Resort, home to more than 200 full and part time residents and host to approximately 1500 tourists per year, has opened its new RV and mobile home park, the “South Grove Village,” following a four year redevelopment project. To showcase the new village, the public is invited to a free Open House on Sat. Feb. 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Village features 33 new mobile home spaces, 39 new RV spaces with full hookups and a new bathhouse with indoor laundry facilities, all located within an easy walk from lakes, white sandy beach, nature trails, pool, sauna, outdoor hot tub, sports complexes, beach bar, restaurant and nightly entertainment.
Located in what is commonly referred to as the “Nudist Capital of the U.S” - Pasco County, Fla. - Lake Como Family Nudist resort is the oldest nudist resort in Florida and one of the largest clothes-free resorts in the country, with 200 acres of nature, recreation and sports amenities. Prior to the opening of the South Grove Village, Lake Como was known as one of the more rustic Florida nudist resorts. The redevelopment project was launched to meet the needs of local and traveling nudist families desiring a higher standard of living and camping options.
“We decommissioned a number of older lots to create the new village without actually expanding the resort,” said Van Bradley, Lake Como’s general manager since 2001. “This allows us to preserve the park’s natural beauty while significantly upgrading the resort so we can offer a much nicer place to live and visit for our expanding membership,” he said.
From a pre-World War II orange marmalade operation to a 1950s outdoor health activities club to one of America’s most beloved family nudist parks, Lake Como Family Nudist Resort continues to grow as family nude recreation becomes as accepted in America as it is in many other countries. According to the January 17, 2003 edition of The Wall St. Journal, nude recreation in North America has grown to a $400 million industry. The Roper Organization, a U.S. public affairs polling firm, has reported that some 54 million Americans enjoy skinny-dipping and that 74 per cent believe citizens should be able to recreate in the nude without interference.
Lake Como Family Nudist Resort, a member of the American Association of Nude Recreation, www.aanr.com, offers visitors and residents the opportunity to recapture the freedom and innocence of their childhood in a casual and historic gated resort community with affordable family prices.
Open House guests will be screened for security near the resort entrance and escorted to the South Grove Village, where they will be treated to music, hotdogs, beer and soft drinks and introductions to Lake Como members, residents, mobile home/RV dealers and lending professionals. Guests will then be invited to stay and enjoy the resort’s many attractions, to include nature, sports, dining and entertainment venues. Identification is required for all guests and a parent or guardian must accompany persons under age 18 for the duration of their visit.
